Police and law enforcement have access to information on all sex offenders. However, under the law, information on Level 1 offenders is not available on the public Web site. While the state Division of Criminal Justice Service (DCJS) cannot disclose if there are any Level 1 sex offenders in your neighborhood or who they are, they can report whether a particular individual is on the registry. The SOR in turn notifies the law enforcement agency having jurisdiction over the location where the offender lives.Depending upon the classification of the offender, the law enforcement agency may further disseminate specified information to the public regarding the sex offender. As such, please be advised that information pertaining to a Level 3 sex offender living within our district (in the 11746 zip code area) is available to you for review at the District Office, Room 107.This same information can also be obtained through the above cited website or the Parents for Megan’s Law website, 7/7/15: Please be advised that a Level 2 sex offender has moved into the11743 area, within our district boundaries. If you are a sex offender with questions about your registration, please write to us through the mail and include your full name, address and date of birth.*No representation is made that the person listed here is currently on the state's offenders registry.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Service (DCJS) is barred by law from posting information on Level 1 (low level) sex offenders, or those with a pending risk level, on this public site.
As a result, DCJS makes no express or implied guarantee concerning the accuracy or completeness of this data. Anyone who uses this information to harass or commit a criminal act against any person may be subject to criminal prosecution.
Please note that because of a lawsuit filed by The Legal Aid Society on behalf of some sex offenders, not all Level 2 and 3 offenders can be listed on this site at this time.
